Hello everyone,

Many years ago when I started to work in my first job, after some time I found that I didn’t like it and I didn’t feel happy with it, so I understood that job satisfaction played an important role in my career future. Meanwhile, I knew that time would fly and didn’t stop for me, therefore; I couldn’t waste my time on a job that I didn’t like. So, I decided to do my best to find a job that could serve me both financially and spiritually. When I started to work in the field of International Logistics eleven years ago, I found that I was on the road that I wanted and felt happy with it. Till the last days of my work in Iran, I as an engaged employee who loved her job tried my best to go forward for achieving the company’s goal and I was satisfied with my earnings.

After coming to Canada and starting my studies in the field of International Trade and Transportation Logistics at UBC , I still have the same feeling about my previous job although I have no work experience here in Canada. Now, at this point, I know what I exactly want that is to continue my previous job here as I explained my reasons. Moreover, after earning more experience in Canada, I plan to run my own company in the same field. This is my long-held dream that could not be fulfilled in my country due to many economic and political obstacles and I will do my best to achieve it in a free and developed country like Canada.

My career is slowly headed in the right path, with the benefit of taking classes, learning from them and applying it to my day to day.

I started at Langara, with the intention of only taking 1 class for work. Very fast, I realized how interconnected all the courses are, which led me into the leadership certificate program. Once I complete my leadership certificate, which will be next semester, I plan on applying for a higher management position at my workplace. My manager has already started prepping me, by asking me if I wanted to shadow and learn more tasks, which I’m gladly doing at the moment. Also, since education is key, and education is always a gain, I was continue taking classes to expand my knowledge. I am going to aim to complete the HR certificate by end of next year!

This class has been amazing to take, I will definitely take it again, in 4-5 years to brush up my skills. I wish everyone the best! Stay safe 🙂

Kind regards,

Hi everyone

That’s a very important question for me. What I want is simple. I want to start with an entry-level job in HR, grow up and reach a management position. Besides, I have a plan to get my CPHR certificate. In my prediction, I can reach my goal in about 5 or 6 years. Like every other goal in life, there are some obstacles on my way. For instance, the pandemic situation resulted in negative growth in Canada’s economy in 2020. It means fewer job opportunities and a more competitive job market. It is said that the impact of the pandemic will remain at least for 2 years. What does it mean for me? Does it mean I can’t find my way? I don’t think so. I know what I want and what I need. I know I should grow in some skills that I am weak at them and learn new skills that I don’t have. So if I have adequate skills and do reasonable try what would stop me? I think, in a hard situation or in other words, in a situation that is out of our control like the pandemic we should keep a positive attitude and keep trying. I have started to search for a new job and will not give up. I have been in the more difficult situations and I survived so I think I will have what I want.
