You need to include the rhetorical information for the texts you have selected for your Project 1. You can combine the information from the texts or present them separately.

Title: Write the titles of the text. If there is no clear title, write the heading that appears at the top of the page and stands out the most.

Author’s name: You can write the company that created the text if there is no specific author

(date in parentheses).

Source: This is where the text was published.

Genre: This will be the same for both texts.

Target audience: Who would be interested in reading this text? Maybe the texts will have the same target audience or maybe they will target different groups but have some overlapping features. Make sure you are specific.

Purpose: What does the writer want the reader to do, think, or feel after reading these texts? The purposes of the two texts you are analyzing will be similar, but there will also be some differences.

You also need to include your claim (or thesis statement) about the effectiveness of the two texts. Your claim will indicate the direction of your analysis and whether or not you think the two texts will succeed at reaching their audience and purpose. Your analysis will be based on how successful the texts are regarding their design, organization, content, style, and values. Your claim should clearly identify whether or not the texts would be able to reach their purpose and audience based on how they are using the aspects of DOCS(V).

You do not need to present the rhetorical information in the order outlined above. However, the genre, author, title, and source are usually presented first.
