Hypothesis-giving patients more educational resources regarding a new diagnosis will improve their overall health.

Patients who are more knowledgeable about their health are more likely to use self-management techniques, attend follow-up appointments, and ask the appropriate questions to their physician (Heath, 2017). Not everyone learns the same. Each educational experience needs to be tailored to each patient. Some patients learn better by demonstration versus reading a handout; others prefer charts, graphs, videos, powerpoints, etc. Up to 80% of what is told to patients by their physicians is forgotten, so it is vital for follow-up appointments and continuous education. Physicians must also spend time with their patients and promote education.

The primary hypothesis of this research is the nursing shortage problem is growing due to high turnover and low levels or nursing school graduates. A secondary hypothesis is: dissatisfaction in the workplace is leading to greater turnover by nurses currently in the field.
