Assignment Description:
Now that you have found and appraised at least 10 sources of reputable evidence related to your PICO question, it is time to organize your findings into a format that begins to transition you towards an upcoming literature review. At this stage you will use the information from your Evidence Appraisal Table to create an annotated bibliography.
Annotated bibliographies allow researchers to organize their thoughts as well as ensure that sources are accurately cited when synthesized into a literature review. Without the use of an annotated bibliography, it can often become challenging to remember what content originated from which article, after multiple articles are reviewed. This step provides specific information related to each of the sources you have identified, including the findings of the study, as well as the application of these findings to your research. The critical thinking used in creating an annotated bibliography can assist you in identifying common themes, which will become the foundation of your expanded literature review.
Assignment Directions:
Create and submit an Annotated Bibliography in which you include each source of evidence that you assessed in the prior assignment.

- Place your PICO Question at the top of your paper (above the first reference)
- For each source, include a full, accurate APA 7th edition reference (similarly to a regular reference page, references should be included in alphabetical order).
- Place an annotation for your interview(s) at the end of the Annotated Bibliography, using the in-text citation format in place of the reference, and then still placing the two paragraphs below.
- Below each reference you will include two in-depth paragraphs related to that reference:
- 1st paragraph: explain the main points/ideas addressed in the study (findings, focus, etc.)
- 2nd paragraph: explain how the findings are applicable to your PICO question (not in 1st person)
No title page, running heads, or in-text citations are necessary in this assignment. Please note that Annotated Bibliographies use hanging indents for each source, paragraphs are indented blocks, and double space formatting is used.

This study measured how implementation of a “walking school bus” affected students’ school performance in a large urban neighborhood in the northern Midwest. The study compared two schools of similar size and demographic, both of whom had students in the same large neighborhood, by implementing a “walking school bus” system in one, but not the other. Measures of success included assessing attendance rates, grades, in incidence of fighting. At the end of the first semester, findings showed significant increases in attendance and grades in the school with the “walking school bus” but found no change in the incidence of fighting…….(continue describing findings)…..
The increase in both attendance rates and grades in this study shows evidence that the “walking school bus” demonstrates measures of success with this intervention.
