Hello this is the first respond question, write 250 words. Thank you

  1. Describe what the following quote means to you. “Theory without practice is empty and practice without theory is blind” (*Cross, 1981, p. 110).

This quote means to me that the presence of a theory without practice to back it up has no point. And if you are practicing and are not utilizing theory, then you are not truly practicing. The deeper meaning I take is that do not go about practicing something that you do not have evidence to at least establish

  1. Explore the Sigma website.

o Based on your exploration of the Sigma Theta Tau International website, provide 3 specific examples of the globalization of nursing. At least one example must include an example of an internationally written article from the most recent issue of the Journal of Nursing Scholarship.

The greatest example of globalization by Sigma is the United Nations sustainable development goal. The goals are meant to help achieve a safer and more viable future. They do this by addressing global challenges of poverty, inequality, climate and many more (Sigma Theta Tau, n.d).

Another example of the globalization of nursing was an article published in the Journal of Nursing Scholarship title “Association Between Witnessing and Justifying Workplace Violence Towards Nurses in Israel”. This article shows how Sigma is a globalized entity by publishing this work centered on Israel. It is also referring to an issue that is present globally, workplace violence. The results of the study seem applicable globally because it discusses how to avoid normalizing violence (Amit-Aharon et al., 2020).

The final example of the globalization of nursing was from another article in the Journal of Nursing Scholarship, “Work Schedule Characteristics, Missed Nursing Care, and Organizational Commitment Among Hospital Nurses in Korea”. This is globalization again because of the involvement in Korea. This also brings up another issue that needs addressed globally in better work hours and adequate rest will help make a nurse more efficient (Cho & Han, 2020).

  1. Share the three most important concepts that you learned this 7-week term.

An important concept I learned from this course is that you must have definable data for support. When you are collecting data, it must be able to be appropriately identified to the issue you are studying. This is important because if you do not then your research will not be credible.

Another important concept I learned form this course was how you can use the example from another theory and make it applicable to nursing. Why this is an important concept is because its an example of how when you find something that might help your nursing practice and it is capable of being transcribed for it then you should make an effort to improve the nursing practice.

The last important concept I learned was that if you have a clinical problem, then you must support it with sources. This is important because if you are attempting to define your clinical problem then you must provide credible sources to back up your research. Supporting it with recent, peer reviewed sources permits the highest level of credibility to the clinical problem proposed.

  1. What were the two most challenging activities for you confronted in this course? What suggestions do you have related to addressing those challenges?

The great challenging activity for this course was the establishment of the clinical practice issue utilizing PICOT. I found it challenging because we had not spent much time centered around how to practice with PICOT. There was time that was given but perhaps having more activity focused on it will help in the transition to the discussion board then project.

Another challenging activity was collecting sources for the literature review project. We have had experiencing with researching credible sources but finding ones that focus on your clinical practice problem was complicated. We did have an activity that lead up to it, but by not receiving feedback from it before we were to turn in the paper created a little difficulty.

Hello, here is the second response

  1. Describe what the following quote means to you. “Theory without practice is empty and practice without theory is blind” (*Cross, 1981, p. 110).

In my opinion, the above quote means that one can not exist without the other. They must co-exist. The practice of nursing is based on theories. These theories are how evidence-based practices are developed and implemented in nursing. Without theory, the nursing profession would be unable to grow to a professional style of practice that emphasizes the patient’s perspective and their expected outcomes (Alligood, 2014, p. 574).

  1. Explore the Sigma website. Based on your exploration of the Sigma Theta Tau International website, provide 3 specific examples of the globalization of nursing. At least one example must include an example of an internationally written article from the most recent issue of the Journal of Nursing Scholarship.

An example of nursing’s globalization from the Sigma Theta Tau International website is Clinician Mental Health and Well‐Being During Global Healthcare Crises: Evidence Learned From Prior Epidemics for COVID‐19 Pandemic written by Jun, Tucker and Mazurek Melnyk. The article looks into coping with mental health stresses, such as working long hours and increasing workloads of the health care worker during this pandemic (Jun et al., 2020).

Another example of nursing’s globalization is the article, Current Trends in Nursing Research Across Five Locations: The United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong. This article aimed to identify the current trends in nursing research across these five countries to better prepare for future global nursing research (Im et al., 2020).

The last example of nursing globalization is an article titled Self-Reported Cultural Competence of Nurses Providing Nursing Care in Slovakia. This article was to determine and evaluate the cultural competencies of nurses working in the Slovak healthcare system and identify the factors that would improve the nurses’ cultural competence (Cerveny et al., 2020).

  1. Share the three most important concepts that you learned this 7-week term.

The three important concepts I have learned over the last seven weeks are how to formulate an in-depth research question using the PICOT format. As well as learning about nursing theories and how they have helped to better understand certain aspects of nursing through theoretical/conceptual models. The use of quantitative research and the importance of controlled experiments and knowing which results are trustworthy. All three of these concepts will assist me in being better prepared for further research studies.

  1. What were the two most challenging activities for you confronted in this course? What suggestions do you have related to addressing those challenges?

These last seven weeks, the two most challenging activities were the quantitative research article critique and writing the literature review based upon the PICOT format. The suggestions I would make looking back would be to start as early as possible to ensure time is allowed to thoroughly research the articles used in both the research and review projects. I would also suggest using the Rubrics to ensure each line item is addressed in each section.
