Being a reflective professional means to be able to look within yourself and teaching and recognize how to be better. I believe educators need to be reflective throughout their course to make sure that their students are learning. If an instructor notices that majority of the class is not doing good, chances are the teaching method is flawed and needs to be changed.
A college professor with a Christian worldview can effectively integrate their faith into the sociology curriculum and classroom by being of service to those in need. A Christian professor can be able to help his students in the classroom when they do not understand something or might need extra help. A Christian educator can also discuss religions in the classroom and share their beliefs to their students in a positive and engaging manner.
As a professional, it is essential to use reflective practices as it allows the individual to reflect and look at things that may go well and things that do not go well. Reflective practices rely on a significant practice of rethinking and stimulating prior thinking with an eye to discovering other causes for the difficulties (Dyment & O’Connell, 2014). In its simplest form, reflective practice is discerning about or reflecting on what you do. It is closely linked to the concept of learning from experience; it is the ability to think about what you did and what occurred and making a conscious effort to do differently next time to achieve a better outcome. Reflective practice involves a conscious effort to think about the actions and develop insights from those experiences (Dyment & O’Connell, 2014). As an instructor, this practice will be invaluable to promote integrated learning in which the individual may analyze the knowledge, skills, and dispositions in various content, permitting them to progress their individual growth, self-monitoring and turn those events into learning through the reflective process (Dyment & O’Connell, 2014).
A college professor with a Christian worldview may effectively integrate their faith into their sociology curriculum and classroom by teaching and supporting students toward developing a continuously Christian worldview. By fostering students to continue to strive to live a commitment of lifelong learning. As a Christian professor, may also include lessons on religion in the classroom and communicate their beliefs to the class encouragingly and engagingly to allow students to engage in their commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
