After looking at a lot of the information, I have gathered, I feel confident that I have the information needed in order to get my point across. The information I have gathered has a lot to do with what I think about this issue overall. I think the information I have gathered does have significance when talking about this health issue. For those of you who do not know, the health issue I am talking about is hearing loss, and my project has to do with a grant proposal. A majority of the information I have gathered is statistics that have to do with hearing loss and how many people in the United States have not only lost their hearing but are affected by not having any hearing devices to help reduce the loss of their hearing even more in the future. A piece of information from one of the articles I used in my grant proposal stood out to me, which is why I had made it one of my first sentences when talking about the issue. The information had to do with hearing loss in older adults being the fourth leading cause of a disability not in the United States but globally (Cunningham & Tucci, 2017). Another piece of information that stood out to me when gathering information for my grant proposal on the topic what a statistic I found in the United States. It indicated that in 2015 the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology recommended that the FDA create new regulations for hearing aids because hearing loss is increasing and becoming a public health problem (Cunningham & Tucci, 2017). Statistics and information like some that I have just talked about or what grabs the stakeholder’s attention and indicates to them how much of a health issue this is.   

Some other areas that were significant in my grant proposal were indicating how much hearing aids cost. I included this because I wanted those reading my proposal to know how much an average hearing aid cost. This would help the reader understand why many people do not use hearing aids as they are very expensive. I also talked about the different statistics of those who don’t have hearing aids or cannot afford hearing aids in low-income communities as well as different minority groups. I included this in my proposal because I want the reader to know which ethnic group. I am targeting to receive funding for and the reason behind it. I did not initially realize that I was adding so much information on minority groups until I was reading the proposal over. The importance of balancing what I have collected from things like my pilot and the scientific evidence was to show that even though some of the information is about six years old, it is still relevant. I say this because even though a lot of the statistics and research that has been done from 2015, for example, is over six years old, it is still useful. Useful in the sense that hearing loss is continuing to grow, as one can see from the information I included about my pilot where results showed that hearing loss is growing, but there are ways to help.
